Aligning Semitool Door
If your Spin Rinse Dryer (SRD) door is rubbing against the bowl or not closing properly, there’s a good chance it’s out of alignment. This quick guide walks you through the process of correcting the issue, using a common Semitool 870 as an example.
Common Signs of Door Misalignment:
- Door rubs on the bowl or window
- Alignment pin doesn’t seat smoothly
- Door won’t close fully or feels stuck
Tools Needed:
- 3/16″ Allen wrench
Quick Steps:
- Loosen the Hinges
Use the Allen wrench to loosen the bolts on both hinges until the door can shift freely. - Reposition the Door
Gently adjust the door’s position—typically by lifting or shifting it slightly—until it clears the bowl and the alignment pin fits cleanly into the slot. - Tighten the Hinges
While holding the door in the correct position, tighten the bottom hinge first to anchor the adjustment. Then tighten the top hinge. - Test the Fit
Open and close the door to check for rubbing or misalignment. Repeat adjustments as needed—it may take a few tries to dial it in just right.
