How to Replace an N2 Purge Saver Valve on a SITEK / Semitool Spin Rinse Dryer

This guide walks you through replacing the N2 purge saver valve on a Semitool SRD, from removing tubing and fittings to mounting and wiring the new valve. Includes helpful tips and required tools for a smooth install. Watch the full video or follow the written steps.

Replacing the N2 purge saver valve on a Semitool Spin Rinse Dryer (SRD) is a common maintenance task that helps ensure proper N2 flow regulation and purge control. Follow the step-by-step guide below for a clean, efficient replacement process.

Tools You May Need:

  • 5/16โ€ wrench
  • Q-wrench for barbs
  • Flush cutters
  • Needle-nose pliers (for pulling tubing)
  • Teflon tape

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Disconnect All Tubing from the Valve:
Start by removing the hard Teflon tubing, followed by the soft tubing. Use pliers or flush cutters to help if tubing is stuck.
  2. Remove the Barbs:
If needed, use the Q-wrench to remove the threaded barbs from the old valve. Be careful not to damage the fittings.
  3. Disconnect Quick Connects:
Remove the two quick connect fittings going to the N2 pressure switch.
  4. Remove Additional Tubing:
Disconnect the tubing going to the anti-static and labyrinth seal systems. Flush cutters may be needed for tighter connections.
  5. Remove Mounting Hardware:
Use the 5/16โ€ wrench to remove the nuts holding the valve to the SRD bowl. Carefully remove the valve.
  6. Install the New Valve:
Pre-connect the ยผโ€ tubing that supplies N2 to the solenoid bank before placing the valve into position.
  7. Reconnect the Tubing:
    • For the purge valve: longer tube to the bottom, shorter to the top.
    • For LPP: follow the same pattern.
Label tubing during removal to ensure proper reconnection.
  8. Secure the Valve:
Tighten the 5/16โ€ mounting hardware once all tubes are connected.
  9. Install the Branch Tee:
    • Remove it from the old valve
    • Reapply Teflon tape
    • Thread into the new valve and tighten securely
  10. Reconnect Final Tubing:
    • Connect the anti-static and labyrinth seal tubing to the correct side of the valve.
    • Install the N2 supply line at the bottom of the N2 distribution manifold.
  11. Reconnect Pressure Switch Wiring:
Donโ€™t forget to reconnect the wires for the 20 PSI pressure switch. This is critical for system functionality.

This process ensures your Semitool SRD maintains optimal N2 purge performance and extends the life of downstream components. If you encounter any issues during installation, SITEK offers full support, including spare parts and technical assistance.
