Adjust Tach Sensor
The tachometer (tach) sensor on a SITEK / Semitool / Rhetech Spin Rinse Dryer ensures accurate rotor speed readings. If your SRD isnโt registering RPM properly or is throwing tachometer-related alarms, a simple adjustment of the tach sensor might resolve the issue.

Tools Needed:
- 3/32″ Allen wrench
Safety First:
- Power down the tool completely.
Never adjust the tach sensor while the SRD is powered on, as you risk shorting out the sensor or damaging the control board.
1. Locate the Tach Sensor
- On most SRD models (e.g., 270 or 870), the tach sensor is mounted just above the encoder wheel near the motor assembly.
- If your unit is still inside its frame or poly chamber, expect limited working spaceโyou may need to work with your head inside the access area.
2. Loosen the Mounting Screws
- Use a 3/32″ Allen wrench to loosen the two screws securing the sensor bracket.
- Tip: You do not need to remove the screws completely. The bracket is slotted and can slide over the screw heads for easy installation or removal.
3. Install or Reposition the Sensor
- Slide the tach sensor bracket into place over the encoder wheel.
- Align the sensor so it sits just about 1/4″ above the small notches on the encoder wheel.
- These small notches are specifically for the tach sensor.
- (The RSP sensor reads the long notchโdo not confuse the two.)
4. Fine-Tune the Position
- Tighten the screws lightly and power the unit back on.
- If you’re not getting proper RPM readings, adjust the sensor slightly in or out to improve registration accuracy.
- Once readings are consistent, fully tighten the mounting screws.
Thatโs all it takes to properly install or adjust the tach sensor on your SITEK / Semitool / Rhetech Spin Rinse Dryer.
