Removing a Semitool Rotor
NOTE: The Nitrogen (N₂) supply and the controller must be activated for the Rotor Stop Positioner (RSP) to engage properly during this procedure.
In this article, we walk you through the step-by-step process of removing and reinstalling a Quick Disconnect (QD) rotor from a SITEK / Semitool / Rhetech Spin Rinse Dryer with a brushless motor.

Tools You’ll Need:
- QD T-handle wrench (recommended for better leverage)
- OR standard Allen wrench
Rotor Removal Steps:
- Power Down and Confirm Readiness
- Ensure the tool is powered down and the chamber is safe to work in.
- Insert QD Wrench
- Insert your QD T-handle wrench into the center bolt of the rotor.
- Unscrew the Rotor Bolt
- Turn the bolt counterclockwise to loosen.
- Once loose, finish unscrewing by hand and remove the QD bolt.
- Support the Rotor
- Place your forearms on the bowl edge to support the rotor’s weight.
- Gently lift and remove the rotor without letting it contact the bowl.
- Inspect the Rotor
- Check for the alignment pin on the QD stem.
- Set aside the rotor for PM, balancing, or replacement as needed.
Rotor Reinstallation Steps:
- Locate the Motor Slot
- Identify the alignment slot inside the brushless motor hub.
- Align and Insert the Rotor
- Use your elbows/forearms to support and guide the rotor back into place.
- Gently spin the rotor while applying light pressure until the alignment pin clicks into the slot.
- Insert and Tighten the QD Bolt
- Reinsert the QD bolt and turn by hand until flush.
- Tighten the bolt another 15° with your wrench for a secure fit (do not over-tighten).
- Check Fitment
- Ensure the rotor sits securely and rotates properly.
- Slide your cassette into the chamber to confirm everything aligns.
⚠️ Caution:
If you experience resistance while removing the rotor, do not force it. Forcing the rotor out may damage the bowl or motor. Instead, contact SITEK immediately — we offer safe removal services and repairs for damaged rotors and motors.
