Realigning a QD Rotor
If your rotor is no longer stopping in the upright position (12:00), it may be misaligned with the cam or encoder wheel. In this step-by-step guide, weโll walk you through the realignment procedure for a Quick Disconnect (QD) Rotor on a SITEK/Semitool 8300 Spin Rinse Dryer, ensuring your Rotor Stop Positioner (RSP) functions properly.

โ ๏ธ Note:
The Nitrogen (Nโ) supply and controller must be active during this process so the RSP can engage.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Remove the Rotor Bolt
- Remove the center rotor bolt completely using a T-handle or Allen wrench.
2. Check Rotor Pin Alignment
- Place the rotor back onto the motor shaft.
- Rotate it until it “clicks” into the notch.
- When aligned, you should feel it securely seat and self-center.
3. Access the Rear Cam Assembly
- Go to the back of the Spin Rinse Dryer.
- Loosen both set screws on the cam.
- If necessary, loosen the Nylock nut on the QD shaft using a crescent wrenchโjust enough to allow rotation.
4. Set the Rotor to the 12:00 Position
- Have someone hold the rotor from the front at the 12:00 position.
- Ensure it’s still engaged in the notch and doesnโt shift.
5. Align the Encoder Wheel
- Rotate the encoder wheel until the notch is centered in the RSP optical sensor.
- Make sure itโs perfectly alignedโif misaligned, the rotor-up error will persist.
6. Tighten the Cam Hardware
- While keeping the rotor locked at 12:00, tighten:
- The set screws on the cam and encoder wheel.
- The Nylock nut on the QD shaft.
7. Reinstall the Rotor Bolt
- Once alignment is confirmed, reinstall the QD rotor bolt and snug it securely.
8. Test Alignment
- Spin the rotor slightly and let goโit should return to 12:00 automatically.
- If not, repeat the process and ensure all hardware is firmly tightened.
Troubleshooting:
No response from the sensor? The RSP sensor may be faulty and require replacement.
Still getting a Rotor Up error? The encoder wheel may still be slightly misaligned with the sensor.
